Doctorate

     With the policy to distribute educational opportunities to other regions of the country, Silpakorn University expanded to a new campus in Phetchaburi province, which is the Phetchaburi Campus. This is the university’s third campus, the others being the Wang Tha Phra Campus, in Bangkok and the Sanam Chandra Palace Campus, in Nakhon Pathom, respectively.

     As the university’s twelfth faculty, the Faculty of Management Science started providing instruction on the Phetchaburi Campus in 2002. It is the aim to produce graduates who are equipped with adequate abilities to work freelance to some extent, basic business abilities and the abilities to work in private organisations and businesses. The instruction takes into account the abilities to respond to service users’ needs and satisfaction, quality of life and environmental quality.

Admission

This is subject to the selection process of Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Management Science and Graduate School, as specified in the announcement of the Graduate School, Silpakorn University concerning application for master’s programs. See more details at www.graduate.su.ac.th.

Qualifications

Master of Arts Program in Public and Private Management

Master of Business Administration Program 

               1. Holding complete qualifications as specified in Silpakorn University’s Regulations on Graduate Education, B.E. 2550 (2007), Section 7 (Appendix A), and/or amended regulations.

               2. Holding a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree.

               3. Obtaining a minimum GPA of 2.75 or at least one year of work experience relevant to the program. In the case of failure to meet the conditions, this is subject to the discretion of the Faculty of Management Science’s Graduate Committee.

 

Doctor of Philosophy Program in Management

1. Qualifications

                     Program 1.1: Postgraduates in the field of management. As for graduates in other fields with experience in management, the admission is subject to the Program Committee’s consideration based on their work experience or academic work and/or research experience.

                     Program 2.1: Postgraduates in the field of management. As for graduates in other fields with experience in management, the admission is subject to the Program Committee’s consideration based on their work experience or academic work and/or research experience.

2. Holding complete qualifications as specified in Silpakorn University’s Regulations on Graduate Education, B.E. 2550 (2007), Section 7 (Appendix A), and/or amended regulations.

         3. Having results of an English proficiency test as required by the Higher Education Commission or by Silpakorn University’s announcements concerning English standards for admission to doctoral programs of Silpakorn University.

Educational system

For each course, the credit calculation is based upon the accumulative number of lecture hours (l), practical or operational hours (p) and self-study hours outside class (s) per week divided by 3.

 

  1. The instruction is characterised by the dual system. An academic year is divided into two terms. A regular term consists of a minimum of 15 weeks.
  2. Credit calculation

                2.1 Lecture course: 1 credit equates to 1 hour per week.

                2.2 Practical or operational course: 1 credit equates to 2 or 3 hours per week or a minimum of 30 hours per term.

                2.3 Seminar course: 1 credit equates to a lecture with discussions for 1 hour per week.

                2.4 Internship or fieldwork course: 1 credit equates to 3-6 weeks per hour or a minimum of 45 hours per term.

                2.5 Self-study, independent study or thesis course: 1 credit equates to 3-4 hours per week or a minimum of 45 hours per term

  3. Criteria for credit calculation

For each course, the credit calculation is based upon the accumulative number of lecture hours (l), practical or operational hours (p) and self-study hours outside class (s) per week divided by 3.

3.1 The credit in each course consists of four numbers:

                          3.2.1 Second number: Number of lecture hours/week. 

                         3.2.2 Third number: Number of practical or operational hours/week. 

                         3.2.3 Fourth number: Number of self-study hours/week. 

                        For example: 3(3-0-6)

3 outside the bracket is the number of credits of the course.

3 inside the bracket is the number of lecture hours/week.

0 inside the bracket is the number of practical or operational hours/week.

6 inside the bracket is the number of self-study hours/week.  

 

Period of study

The minimum period of study is 2 terms and the maximum period of study is 5 terms.

          The assessment and evaluation of educational performances are subject to Silpakorn University’s Regulations on Postgraduate Education, B.E. 2550 (2007), Clause 4: Assessment and evaluation of the educational performances and Clause 5: English Proficiency Examination, Comprehensive Examination and Qualifying Examination.
